That's cool, but that's not where the real help is needed; there's always plenty of folks to hoist wood for the fire stack and tend burn barrels. Building the burn pads require moving about 70-100 cinder blocks, and enough sheet metal to cover them all twice. Then when all the fun is over, there's ashes to clean up, and all that concrete and steel has to get moved back again.

THAT's where your volunteer effort and prior commitment REALLY make a difference, and is truly appreciated!

I will tell you flat out, we have been having smaller burns because of the lack of help with the setup and cleanup of the main burn pad. A few times of 4-6 of us working ALL day Monday doing cleanup (til 5-6PM), and you start thinking maybe this group just can't handle it and it's time to downsize.

So put your effort into the heart of the event - JOIN FIRETEAM!

a-HEM, actually, if you want to bring your bunks and help out with fire safety, please do, as we (you) will be short handed this year - I won't be at PDF, and Lizard can likely use all of the help he can get.

Abso-tootly! The main burn pad will probably go up Friday, and even if we get super-industrious and get it up Thursday night (yeah right), there's still burning art coordination and assistance, hauling wood to the gates and volunteer central, etc. for burn barrels (we have a cart), and of course the main wood stack build and Monday morning clean up.

Also, for this stack build I'd like to pre-train several folks on how stacking should be done, to help guide the many enthusiastic volunteers doing the build.

There has only been sparse activity, won't pick up until next week, so don't worry yet.

No prob on Sunday early afternoon. I expect the only activity on Sunday will maybe be moving some burning art into place, and getting more wood on the main stack Sunday night.

Most excellent! No need to get there before gate-open, we already have the wood delivery covered by folks like Jill who just can't help themselves and get there early. That being said, if you'd like to get there early and are willing to help Jill and/or the DPW, send me a note and I can get you on the early admissions list. You will still need to have your ticket with you. Early admission is strictly for helping with infrastructure, NOT setting your (theme) camp up.
