About the Sound Turn Down Policy PDF has (copied from Spring's WWW):

"Noise

There is a mandatory “turn down the volume”
at midnight rule. This includes all loud
noise like drumming, yelling, etc. Please be
aware of the time and make sure all members
of your camp are too. If a ranger asks
you to turn down your music, comply
immediately. Don't be the one who ends
PDF."

    aw buzz kill dude!!

    jk!!

Seriously though, it needs to be done and respected. Absolutely! I've seen way to many rangers fight with people over this issue and it's PDF. There shouldn't be this sort of drama. It should be there's a rule, let's follow it. We love, share, and respect each other there. Part of that respect is letting each other and the people in the surrounding housing areas sleep. ( Personally, I'd love it too so I could move my tent less of a hiking distance from the center of things! I got massive blisters on my feet in the Spring :P ) Haha. So let's try harder people! Woo hoo!!

Love you Smelly you keep posting the rules!!!

Actually, the Board and the vets negotiated a better deal with the neighbors this year. I just found out about this this morning.

Knowing what an odious rule this has been for PDF in the past, the board worked hard to pacify the neighbors within earshot of PDF by giving each of them $50 cash money not to file noise complaints.

Therefore, sound turn-down has been delayed until 2:30am and it only cost the PDF LLC $450 to make it happen.

Just think about it - 1000 people x 2.5 more hours of partying x 3 nights = 7,500 more man-hours of partying, all for the low price of $450.

That means each extra hour of partying only cost us $0.06!

Congratulations to the board, and THANK YOU for all your hard work!!

SOUND TURN DOWN IS STILL MIDNIGHT.
Snail's post is not true. Snail, I understand that as burners we enjoy anarchy and harmless pranks, but spreading false information about event policy is really not OK. We have our sound turn down to protect the future of our event, and spreading false information jeopardizes the event, and also makes the jobs of the sound patrol and the rangers harder than it needs to be.

      Your concern is noted.

however the topics on tribe are a far cry from the actions at PDF; i have little doubt that the very same people that make the comments that concern you will be at the forefront of maintaining the sound turn down at midnight.

Tribe is where i come to bullshit, and if you want to be serious about things here on tribe
you'll always run the risk of of not being taken seriously.

There are some participants who only read Tribe and don't keep up with PDF info anywhere else, so I don't think it's far fetched that someone could see a post like that and end up really confused.

I'm not totally against joking around. For example, I can't wait to go see Daft Punk :P

Yes good point, and without people that believe this it would be absolutely no fun whatsoever.

what might be a bit of a stretch is getting an entire sound camp to read this on tribe,
          then skip the confession,
and come to PDF with enough people speakers generators and shitty techno records to get the cops called.

and it ant me but i think
some of the people that do bring a butt load of shitty techno could be a little offended when the're told on tribe
          when sound turn down is
as if they don't have their shit together enough to know and need to be told.

It's called reminding everyone so the po-po doesn't get called and plain old respect too, ya know?

I am one of the ones that ONLY gets PDF information through Tribe. However I'll admit I take everything I read on Tribe with grain of salt lol!

I for one would have prefered a TurnDownTime of 1 or 2am but will abide by the midnight ruling if that'll keep the neighbors chill.

            See y'all there! ;-)

Lucian there's a lot of things we'd all PREFER about the event. LOL. Think this isn't a preference -it's MAKE OR BREAK.

Homes neighboring the event live out there to AVOID loud noise. Professional quality amps and djs are loud. Piss off the neighbors the cops show up. Piss off the neighbors ENOUGH they complain to the county, petitions start flying and then poof, no PDF at the Vets. I think we've gotten pretty close a few times.

"Oh who's going to make someone turn it down?" I think no one will "officially" get confrontational, I've seen "non officials" get pretty ugly over the sound issue.

As far as "official" consequences go, if I'm not mistaken sometimes, some camps or individuals are sometimes put on "probation" or a "black list" and barred from the event for an unspecified amount of time. I don't know specifics about this but know it happens.

I'd to like to know the truth.

I'm sick of these unfounded fears of imaginary things. What MIGHT happen is imaginary. One could argue neighbors simply dont like the event (sound or no sound) and might sign a petition or something. So we better stay home just in case right? Same logic.

So far the sound policy has been enforced by explaining to us that its for our own good. Explain to me how that is the case. Not how it MIGHT BE for our own good but how it ACTUALLY IS for our own good.
