Given that
the sum of all events at PDF = PDF
As long as a negative effect is multiplied by a negative reaction the end result will be a positive PDF.
Let e=event, and r=reaction
then e(r)= PDF
and -e(-r)= PDF
I have more to say this was just the easiest to explain.
alliteratively, if popular opinion removes the negative reaction as an option in the equation;
Then -e= -PDF
