Hey All,
Among other things, PDF will be a place to destress and recharge and my friend and I were thinking of taking a small side trip that isn't far from the grounds to someplace, well I guess chill is the best way to define it. Looking forward to the people and the merry-making, but trying to stop the onset of a burnout and being someplace peaceful is much needed for this NYC gal.
Any tips?
Many thanks!
Dominique

Thu, May 8, 2008 - 7:25 AMit seems that googlemaps says it's an hour and a half away. have u done it and does it seem closer? Seems like the Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge might be the closest spot. but if anyone hears anything, please let me know!

Thu, May 8, 2008 - 12:59 PMAn hour and a half to Cape Henlopen seems about right--it's 60 miles on back roads. Worth the trip, though. You're pretty much guaranteed to see dolphins right off shore, and if you're brave, you can swim right out to them, as I've done: s92131192.onlinehome.us/images...man.jpg

Re: Fun chill side trip from PDF? A beach, a nice little ---?
Thu, May 8, 2008 - 7:36 AMThere's often a group that takes off for the beach on Saturdays, but I don't know where it is, though they say it's really close. Maybe someone else here knows? -

Thu, May 8, 2008 - 9:55 AMLast May, we saw signs for the beach on the way to town, it didn't seem that far... and there were thoughts of exploring next time around... which is this time :) so yeah, anyone know anything about them there signs?

Re: Fun chill side trip from PDF? A beach, a nice little ---?
Thu, May 8, 2008 - 11:57 AMLast spring a bunch of us escaped to Bowers Beach for the afternoon. Nothing too exciting, beach-wise, but there aren't any flies, and there was a fun seafood restaurant on the way back (isn't it amazing how much you appreciate A/C in late May once it's taken away from you?).

Re: liquor store
Thu, May 8, 2008 - 1:59 PMThere's one in the little strip mall in Middletown, just before you hit Odessa, next to the Acme. You'll pass it on the way in, I expect.

Thu, May 8, 2008 - 2:04 PMHere's one, really close by: maps.google.com/maps
No idea if it's nice, but there appears to be a parking lot and pier, at least. -
